We look forward to helping you find your home! When Fort Lewis and McCord Air Force Base became Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the installation needed expanded housing options. Barracks designs ranged from elaborate to elaborate depending on the needs of individuals, families, and structures, and consequently varied as much as the population served.
Designed several barracks complexes for Joint Base Lewis-McChord, located near Tacoma, Washington. Most of the design and construction projects involved the UEPH barracks, designed to reflect the surrounding buildings and private sector housing.
Army Reserve Center The Army Reserve Center (ARC) is an important multipurpose facility type for the Army that provides training, maintenance, administration, and storage in one stop. We are in the United States. Designed multiple ARCs for the Army Corps of Engineers, always striving to maximize the use of space at each location and provide an attractive, functional resource for our military. The Army Reserve Center's Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility is critical to the smooth running of operations at any military installation, and Fort Riley leadership recognized the need to revitalize the fort's large-scale tactical equipment maintenance facility. We conducted a programming exercise to gather feedback from users and other key stakeholders, and designed a highly resilient facility for servicing military vehicles and other equipment. Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility Chief 2 Christopher Clayton loves the safety and comfort of his family on base. Clayton recently moved into a new four-bedroom house in the Cascade Village neighborhood of McCord Field at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
He often goes into the field and deploys with his unit, the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade. He appreciates the mental feedback the tight-knit community provides his wife and three children, especially in his absence.
Basic Allowance For Housing (bah) Rates
Clayton is one of the few new residents of McCord's newest development. The Residential Communities Division broke ground last year and has completed 26 of 62 Cascade Village duplexes and single-family homes at McCord Field. Currently, all 26 houses are occupied.
The development offers multi-level three and four bedroom units for rent to military families, senior enlisted men, officers and non-commissioned officers. JBLM service members can rent a one-story home there that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The average occupancy rate for all JBLM apartments is 96 percent, said Greta Powell, director of the Residential Communities division.
Each home in the neighborhood has a heat pump, air conditioning, covered garage and at least 2,000 square feet, said Todd Wasko, managing director of Equity Residential.
"If you're looking to buy a new home off post, these are the homes you're looking for in terms of size and amenities," Wasko said.

Established a 50-year partnership with Equity Residential when it was Fort Lewis. A privatized contractor will provide maintenance and yard services to JBLM residents, a partnership that allows base residents a single point of contact for home services, regardless of where they live on the installation, he said.
McCord Air Force Base privatized its housing community in 2008 with Equity Residential. Now with a unified base, billing processes, repair issues and a single garrison commander, Equity Residential's day-to-day operations have been simplified and benefited residents.
"Now we have a philosophy, a point of view, and we're not trying to please two different groups, and there's the Air Force," Wasko said.
Another advantage of the joint base system is the relief from the "live where you live" policy, where soldiers must live on Lewis and airmen on McCord. Families now make up 46 percent of residents living in the McCord Field neighborhood, Powell said. The numbers are not as great for pilots who live
