Mcas Yuma Mcx - Welcome to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. MCAS Yuma is an air training base that provides access to more than 1 million acres of bombing and aerial training areas.
MCAS Yuma supports 80 percent of the Marine Corps' air-to-ground aviation training. Twice a year the Air Station organizes a weapons and tactics instructor course. This seven-week course provides advanced training in tactical aviation.

MCAS Yuma's population includes approximately 4,000 active duty Sailors and Marines. And each year the station hosts approximately 70 air units, bringing an average of 600 aircraft and 14,000 personnel to the air station for ongoing training.

While many military family members call base housing their home, others choose to live in nearby communities. San Luis, Somerton, Yuma, Yuma Foothills, Winterhaven (in nearby California) and other neighboring communities provide housing, employment and other services to MCAS Yuma military families.
Rentals in the community are limited from October through April, when an influx of snowbirds hits the area. Housing and energy costs in the area can exceed BAH. The city of Yuma is a short distance from MCAS Yuma offering residents a short commute to the air station. The city has about 98,000 inhabitants.
Yuma includes a variety of outdoor activities. Go down the Colorado River, go off-road at the Imperial Sand Dunes, or check out the Yuma Pass National Heritage Area. More outdoor adventures can be had in city parks. There are many options for your child's education at MCAS Yuma. Arizona offers traditional public schools as well as public charter schools and private schools. For younger children, a variety of local preschool and childcare programs are available on and off the station.
Children who live in MCAS Yuma can attend schools in Yuma District One Elementary School District and Yuma Union School District High School. Children living in the 16th Street housing are within the boundaries of the Crane School District and the Yuma Union High School District. There are no DoDEA schools on the air station.

MCAS Yuma has a dry, desert climate with sunny days year-round. Only about 3 inches fall each year in the area.
In the winter, average highs at MCAS Yuma are in the 60s and 70s. Average lows fall into the upper 40s and low 50s.
In summer, the average temperature rises to over 100 degrees. Summer nights get a little cooler, with average lows in the 70s and 80s. The low humidity helps make things more tolerable in the hot summer months.
